Why DKE

Same crew, start to finish

Most solar outfits are a call centre out front and a rotating cast of subcontractors on your roof. We are three licensed sparkies who quote the job, install the job and pick up the phone two years later.

  • We size it off your bill, not a package. Your usage data decides the system. Not whatever is on special this month.
  • The quote is the price. Fixed in writing, rebate already deducted, switchboard checked before you sign.
  • Gear we will warrant ourselves. If we would not put it on our own roof, it does not go on yours.
  • Paperwork is our problem. Grid connection, the STC claim and compliance certificates. You sign two forms.
  • We are still here afterwards. Same number, same people, no call queue.

What could solar knock
off your power bill?

Drag the sliders for a rough idea before you talk to anyone. It's an estimate, not a quote. But it's built on conservative South East QLD numbers, and every assumption is listed underneath.

What this is based on. And what it isn't

This is a rough indication only. It is not a quote, and it deliberately doesn't estimate system price or payback period. Those depend on your roof, switchboard, orientation, shading and the gear you choose, and we won't guess at them. A site check gives you a fixed written number.

  • Generation assumed at 4.2 kWh per kW installed per day, a conservative South East QLD average across the year
  • Electricity bought from the grid at $0.33/kWh; surplus exported at $0.05/kWh
  • Around $400/year of a typical bill is the fixed daily supply charge, which solar can't offset, so that is excluded
  • Self-consumption assumed at 35% for solar only, 75% with a battery
  • Bill reduction is capped at what you actually use. You can't self-consume more power than you consume, and you can't get below the supply charge
  • Export credit is shown separately because it is money credited for surplus power, not a reduction in what you owe

Your real result depends on your tariff, retailer, usage pattern and how much of your power you use during daylight hours.

Common questions

The stuff everyone asks

It depends on system size, your roof, your switchboard and which gear you go with, anyone quoting a price before they've looked at those things is guessing. What we can promise is a fixed written quote after the site check, with the rebate already deducted so you're looking at the real number.

Most standard residential systems go in inside a day. Bigger arrays, battery installs, switchboard upgrades or tricky two-storey roofs can run into a second day, we'll tell you which before we book it in, not on the morning.

Not necessarily. If most of your power use is during the day, solar alone may do the job. If you're out all day and hammering power at night, a battery changes the maths a lot. We'll show you both scenarios against your actual usage and let you decide. And we'll make sure the system is battery-ready either way.

You get three separate things: the manufacturer's product warranty on panels, the inverter warranty, and our workmanship warranty on the install itself. Exact terms depend on the gear you choose. Every one of them is spelled out on your quote in writing.
